FAQ
What goes in a Snoezelen® room?
A typical snoezelen-style multi-sensory room contains bubble tubes, fibre-optic strands, a projector for slow-moving light effects, soft seating or a padded platform, gentle music and sometimes aroma. Walls and floors stay neutral so the lighting carries the colour, and every element is dimmable and adjustable.
The equipment matters less than the thinking behind it. The original snoezelen idea is non-directive: the room offers experiences without demanding a response, so the design keeps the person using the room in control, with a calm baseline the equipment builds on rather than a wall of stimulation.
Snoezelen® is a registered trademark; we use the term descriptively and are not affiliated with the trademark holder. The neutral term is a multi-sensory environment.
